I would like to know how to mount a motor onto an adult tricycle.?
I cannot afford to buy a “kit” that costs hundreds of dollars. I cannot find even a picture of one that is done. Regular bicycle kits are cheaper but I don’t know how to convert it go on a tricycle. Can someone help me?
The simplest way is to mount the motor to the front forks on a tricycle, then put a rubber wheel that touches the top of the front tire that connects to the motor via a centrifugal clutch.

When the motor runs, it will turn the rubber wheel which will turn the front tire.
The centrifugal clutch does a couple of things: 1. It allows the engine to be started and run at an idle without making the trike jump when the engine is started and 2. It allows the trike to be operated by pedal or being pushed without the drag of a non-running motor. The clutch will only engage when the engine speed is increased via a lever or motorcycle type throttle on a handlebar grip and will disengage when the throttle is rolled off.
You could also mount the entire assembly to run a rear tire, but increasing power will try to turn the trike instead of running straight. The third way is if the trike has chain drive to the rear wheels, to mount the motor so that instead of a rubber wheel rubbing against a tire, a gear (sprocket) could be mounted in the rubber wheel’s place and the chain run around the gear (sprocket). Note that pedals would not be usable with a motor connected to the chain.
