Is riding an adult tricycle really uncool?

I’m in my early 30s and want to buy a tricycle for adults. Like this one: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=5679542. I’ve always been slightly uncomfortable on two-wheels and I think I’d get a lot of joy out of riding around on the trike. But I’m worried that I’d look crazy or otherwise mentally challenged. I don’t want to scare the local kids, I just want to ride a bike and put groceries and things in the basket.

Don’t listen to the resident trike weenie. Most people ESPECIALLY young adults and kids view people on trikes as weird. It’s how you view yourself that matters though. Kids DO NOT think a trike is the coolest thing on wheels at all. In reality they will assume you had a car accident and had severe head injuries. It may not be right but it’s true.

Trike riders tend to be old, phsy. or mentally disabled. Kids and everyone else knows this… then there are the few odd-balls… who ride them because they like them!!!

Another poster said that trikes are slow and I’ll add heavy and cumbersome and take a lot of space in a garage are impossible to bring inside the house like normal people may store their bikes in the basement etc.

It’s possible getting a well fitting stable bike may work well for you, give that a try 1st.

Also, trikes are not fun or fast at all. I rode a couple to check em out. It wasn’t fun in any sense of the word but a lot of work. That’s why kid’s never ride there trikes or bikes with training wheels after the learn to ride on two wheels.
