Tandem Bicycle Bar

Does anyone know of a way to connect two bicycles together besides using a tandem bike?
I am “visually impaired”, and would like to ride a bike with my husband this summer. Tandems are to cumbersome to take to bike trails for us, and so, if we can, it would be easier to connect two single bikes together somehow when we get wherever we’re going. WE ran into an older couple who had a device that connected their handle bars several years ago, but don’t know how to find it for ourselves.
I have seen a couple of set ups that join two bikes together. Some side by side and some nose to tail.(similar to a “tag a long”)
I’m quite sure the ones I have seen are “do it yourself jobs”. They look quite ungainly and I wouldn’t recommend anybody copy them.
There may be other options depending on how much vision you still have. Since you are talking joining two bikes I will assume your not interested riding solo following a high visibility leader.
Tandems (and tridems) are easily the most common form of cycling for vision impaired people.Your problem seems more about moving them around.
I have a tandem and move it around on a standard tow bar (hitch) mounted carrier. If I drop the wheels of it is about the same width as the car. The wheels are quick release and only take seconds to get on and off. The carrier holds the bike at an excellent height to do this.
I have also taken it on public transport. One person carries the wheels the other carries the rest.
The greatest thing about tandems is that there is none of that waiting for the other one to catch up.
I hope you can find this useful even though it doesn’t specifically answer your question.
