What is a good brand for Mountain Bikes?
I am just starting to get into Mountain Biking and I am looking to buy a bike for a reasonable price. I want to buy something used probably off of craigslist or something like that. I am just looking to see which brands are good and which brands I should stay away from.
Look for any good name and one Mongoose is not the same as another one…stay away from dept store ANYTHING! Look for Trek, specialized, Giant, Gary Fisher, Kona, GT…..the list goes on. There are many things to look for when buying used mountain//road bikes as you never know how “honest” the seller is and how well they represent their item for sale. I suggest that since you dont know how to shop for something (to prevent you from getting screwed) you go visit your local shops first and get educated before you start looking and learn some of the ins and outs before you buy something you will regret. Even a brand name off of C-list can be a bad buy! That is a small part of the downside, you might actually score something good though….?
