Hid Bicycle Light Reviews
How can you “outrun light” on a bicycle?
I came off my bicycle in the dark today – didn’t see a bump, pushed me into a gutter, lost it, spun, ouch. So, I want to buy a new (more powerful) light, and I’ve been looking at the reviews of the HID lights, and a lot of them seem to say things along the lines of “if you travel at 20-25+ mph you can outrun the light”.
Does anyone know what this actually means? To me if you’re moving at 25mph you’re still 670616604mph off being able to outrun the light.

You can’t really out run the speed of light…. BUT, the visual distance that it covers can be less than your reaction time. It lights up two seconds out. BUT, your stopping distance and reaction time is four seconds out. You really do not see the danger until it is too late!
There is an excellent article in this months “Bicycling Magazine” re: lights and visibility. With lots of suggestions and equipment reviews. Well worth the price, and a good read to boot!
