Winter speed workouts for football (running back)?
am 14 years old, 5’4″, and i weigh about 132 pounds. i am in the 8th grade, and i want to run about a 4.7 in the 40 yard dash by the time i am a freshman in high school. the last time i timed myself in the 40 yard dash i ran a 5.1, which was about 3 months ago. i have done a lot of work since then and i am probably around a 4.9 now. can someone please give me speed workouts that i can do in the winter? right now where i live it has been about 30 degrees on average the past month. i went to my local park today to work out, but it was too cold to even run. i have a hill in my backyard, and i also have a weight vest. i have a stationary bike, but i do not have a treadmill. can someone please give me a speed workout or speed drills that i can do indoor please? thanks!
find a building you can use:the school basket ball court, YMCA, hotel stair well, … someplace you can run without people going hey stop that or call the police. running stairs especially long straight flights are the best. if you can manage it run two at a time or three at a time. the act of that extra stretch and strength required will make you very strong and fast. the other is make or buy a small parachute and tie it to you with a belt then sprint 100 yards. why 100 yards? it’s like boxing to go 10 rounds you need to train for 15 or 20. so to run full speed for 40 yards run 100 yards.
