Is it okay to lift an hour after doing a 20 minute light cardio bike ride?
Just read a good piece on the run and then lift, or lift and then run debate. While your specification of “light” would suggest you’re doing the bike ride for the sake of warming-up, this article suggests that in ordering a workout, “Finally, endurance is developed last because it is nearly impossible to develop adequate speed or strength in the presence of fatigue. Additionally, when endurance is trained post strength training you can take advantage of your body’s depleted glycogen stores (an energy substrate derived from the breakdown of carbohydrates) and tap into the bodies stored fat for energy.”
Long story short, it’s fine to bike and then lift, but if you’re looking to get the most out of both, I’d flip the two.
