Buying a jockstrap?!?

i am 14 and have about a 27″ waist and is about 5’6ft tall, what size should i get a xl boys or somtin or a small mens? and what type should i get? i want one for running and maybe biking, i want a jockstrap not compression shorts. also what type should i get, with or without a pouch to hold a cup. i like having the option of having a cup but if i use a jockstrap with a pouch when no cup is in there will it work as good as one without a pouch? will it have as good support and everything? last thing is that i want to go to big 5 with my mom to get one but dont really want her to know seeing that i dont NEED one at the moment. what type should i get there and how to get one without making a big deal about it to her.

It depends on how big your equipment is. The difference between men’s and boy’s sizes, is the size of the pouch. And some companies have teen sizes between them. But otherwise it’s all about the waist size. If you’ve got a decent sized package, go with the men’s small, because the boy’s size might be too small for you. Or you’ll out grow it sooner, even if you don’t out grow the waist.

A regular jockstrap and a jockstrap with a cup are for two completely different things. The regular jockstrap is to give you support, and is best for any kind of sports or activity where you don’t have to worry about getting hit in the groin. For things like running, basketball, soccer, and stuff like that.

Some guys say you don’t really need a jock for stuff like that, but it really depends on the guy. Some guys really don’t need the support, or they can get by with briefs or something. But for guys with bigger equipment – like low hanging balls – they are really good. My junk bounces around too much without one, and my balls end up getting sore.

A lot of guys wear a jock under their board shorts at the beach for “boner control”.

The jockstrap with a cup is what you want for sports like baseball, football, lax, or hockey where you can take a hit to the groin. Though you could also use compression shorts with a built in cup pouch.

You don’t want to wear a jockstrap made to hold a cup without the cup in it. The pouch is not the same as a regular jockstrap, and they are not really made to be worn like that. And you do not want to wear a cup inside a regular jockstrap. They are not supposed to be worn up against your skin like that. Sweat will collect between your skin and the cup and you will end up with a nasty case of jock itch.

If you need both kinds, then buy one of each. They aren’t that expensive.
