Bike Dog Basket
how to socialize a puppy?
Like, I want to go to a friend who has a cat or i want to go to a trainstation (for socialization).
How do i ‘transport’ my dog? I don’t have a car (im 15) and its gonna be a german shepherd.
Do i need to buy a basket and put it on my bike so i can take the dog with me or something?
help???
Considering you are getting a German Shepherd, the dog will need plenty of exercise along with socialization. Walking the dog places would be much better for socializing than trying to put the dog in a bike basket.
Socializing a German Shepherd is very very important. I cannot stress just how important it is. You need to introduce your puppy to as many different people, places, things, other dogs, and situations that you can. Taking your puppy for a daily long walk would be perfect. Take a little bit of a different route each time. Go places that you know you will see other people and/or dogs – parks, your school’s outdoor sporting events, beaches that are dog friendly, etc. Walk past places that are “people busy” like gas stations, grocery stores, libraries, etc. Walk places near you that have several different noises. Go to your city park – I’m sure that plenty of the children there would love to pet your puppy.
There are so many opportunities. Also, be sure to enroll you and your puppy in a puppy obedience class. Usually there are not too many opportunities where the dogs get to play and interact with each other at class, but the puppy will learn manners while being around other people and dogs. You would probably be able to let your puppy interact with the other dogs and people before and after class given that it is okay with the other owners (which usually it is, in my experience).
