what can i do to my road bike to make it noticably faster, if i have a 300 dollar limit?
i have a 2010 specialized allez with sora rear derraleur, 2300 front cog and shifters, carbon fork, and alexrims s500 700 wheels. it has a fact carbon fork and an a1 alluminum frame. it has basket pedals
i got a free custom fitting when i bought the bike
i ride about 30 miles per day
i weigh 120 pounds and i am 5 foot 8. my average speed is just a hair under 20 miles an hour
i’m only 14, i have a minimum wage job and i’m paying for this myself.
I have a bit of a different answer compared to my colleagues.
http://performancebike.com has some wheels on sale- the Forte Apollo wheelset- for under $300. Rotating mass is your enemy and reducing your wheel weight will provide better performance improvement than any other fix other than getting a new bike.
With the change from the $300 get some clipless pedals and shoes if you can.
