how tall does a young man need to be for a full sized bicycle??

my nephew is 5ft even( short for his age) and since i have been
unable to sell my bike on the internet i am thinking about keeping
it in storage for him.
it is a full sized specialized sirrus.

Assuming you bike is only a few years old it should be a compact frame.

As a rough guide Specialized Sirrus frame sizes are
XS – 49cm to fit 5` 0″ – 5` 3″ (152 – 160 cm)
S – 51cm to fit 5` 3″ – 5` 6″ (160 – 168 cm)
M – 54cm to fit 5` 6″ – 5` 9″ (168 – 175 cm)
L – 57cm to fit 5` 9″ – 6` 2″ (175 – 188 cm)
XL – 61cm to fit 6` 3″ – 6` 6″ (188 – 198 cm)

Seat tube length is from the centre of cranks to the top of the the frame (At the seat post clamp)

He should be right to get onto an extra small now.

He will probably be able to stand over a small as well. Reach to the handle bars is likely to be an issue though. He will need to stretch to reach them. Fitting a shorter stem (the part that joins the handle bars to the fork) will reduce this problem and get him using the bike sooner.

Any larger than a small, then he will need to wait. It is not uncommon for a lad in his early teens to be fitted to a bike that is really a size too big. (Just as a suggestion) A good project for a lad and his uncle could be to swap a frame.
