Why are the rules different for each playing area at the park?
I went to the park over the weekend and the rules were like this
BASKETBALL COURT – Profanity will not be tolerated. Those the violate this rule will be barred from the court. Drugs and alcolholic beverages are prohibited. No radios are permitted. No bicycles permitted on the court.
TENNIS COURT – No such rules listed above
BASEBALL FIELD – The alcohol rule was there and a rule about no dogs.
I just dont get it. Should ALL rules apply on all playing areas?
The rules are written to reduce types of problems that the jurisdication has seen at differing areas of the park. It’s not that “the type of person who uses drugs doesn’t play tennis.” It’s that the juridiction hasn’t seen a drug use problem at the tennis courts. People don’t often say, let’s take the dog and throw the frisbee at the basketball court (if there is a big open grassy baseball field next to it.) All rules do apply, all rules are not posted. The rules posted are generally a subset of all the rules for all the parks in the jurisdiction.
