Bicycle Gps Tracking System

Is there a tracking device I can install on my bicycle?

My dad’s bicycle just got stolen. We’re buying a new one tomorrow and would like to find out if there’s a way to recover it if it gets stolen again.

A company called Pegasus technologies has one. Poke around on their website, link provided below, to see if it’s something you could get, but I couldn’t tell you if it’s for general public use, as the site seems to be tailored to law enforcement agencies. And furthermore, other than that, I seriously doubt that there is any tracking device for bicycles on the market right now, or likely ever will be.

That said, take some initiative and seriously encourage your dad to file a police report on the matter if he hasn’t already, regardless of the odds of locating it. Lately, police departments are being seriously encouraged to keep accurate numbers of all reported crimes to better understand where to focus their resources. As for the new bike, ask to see bicycles that have frame serial numbers on them. This will be incredibly useful in the future should the bicycle be stolen again.

Unfortunately for bicyclists, bicycle thieves are a determined bunch, regardless of their motivations. There’s not a whole lot you can do to stop a thief other than to keep your bike off the streets whenever possible.
