What is New York City’s intent for using free public bicycle share system, the Social Bicycle System (SoBi)?

Each available SoBi bike has to be unlocked by your Android or iPhone. Also, each SoBi bike has a hidden built in GPS, so NYC can track your movement where ever you go 24/7/365. Would you use it? Each user has unlimited access of SoBi bikes. It is currently in an experimental mode.

I don’t think it will catch on … there is such a huge 2nd hand bike market in NYC, you can just buy a bicycle for $30, it will probably get stolen, then you buy another … people who would use those SOBI bikes would probably be tourists or visitors, for whom its not advantageous to own their own bicycle. There will be a lot of boring gps data of loops of the parks LOL.
