Bicycle spoke cards – why?
I’ve read that this used to be a way to distinguish bikes in alley races, kinda like different colored jerseys on jockeys & numbers on race horses. But why so many spoke cards loaded up on one wheel? Looks dumb & serves no purpose that I can see, except maybe some kind of bicycle “fashion statement”. (???)
No, these cards aren’t flapping on the spokes to make noise – just laced through the spokes.
hmmm…laced throug the spokes you say? I’m going to half guess and half joke that it is a poor man’s way to achieve aerodynamic performance on their wheels? Rather than splurging on expensive disc wheels, they try to create the same effect with the cards.
